JUST REAPING BENEFITS
OF
SCHEMES INITIATED BY BJP

MLA and former Minister for Finance, Government of Delhi is seeking reelection
from Janakpuri constituency.
He was out on canvassing trail
along with hundreds of his admirers and BJP workers.
“Congress government makes tall
claims about what it has done in Delhi but the fact is that it has only carried
forward the plans and projects initiated by BJP.
Projects like the city Metro and
Polio Eradication had been initiated during the BJP regime. In so far
initiating new projects is concerned, Delhi government has a dismal record. ”
Listing the achievements of the
former BJP government, Professor Mukhi said,
“It was during the BJP rule that
cow slaughter was banned in Delhi. Each legislator was sanctioned Rs. 1 lakh for
Development Works in his constituency. Sales tax was abolished on 36 items and
reduced on another 63 items. Revenue receipts registered an increase of over 27
% in spite of these concessions on items of common use. People were Delhi was
liberated from the curse of Lotteries. Indraprastha University was established
which opened new avenues for technical and higher education. Advertising of
Alcoholic liquors was banned and 18 days in the year were declared DRY days to maintain
religious sanctity of these days.
Old age pensions at the rate of
Rs. 200 per month were introduced. Polio Eradication programme was executed in Delhi
with efficiency that earned appreciation from International agencies. Provision
was at Nigambodh Ghat for last rites with Yamuna water. Agreements for supply
of water to Delhi were signed with five State governments. Fly over was built to
ease traffic congestions at Ashram Chowk. Other major highway projects included
Indo-Japan Collaboration Bridge near Nizamuddin and NOIDA toll bridge. In
addition 15 new Flyover projects were initiated .Five new Colleges were opened.
Yamuna Development Board was set up.
Compensation to farmers was increased three fold. Recommendation was made for
regularization of 1071 unauthorized colonies. Delhi was reorganized into nine Districts.
Two additional Bus Terminals were set up [at Sarai Kale Khan and Anand Vihar. A
Slum Board and a Mini MASTER PLAN was created for rural areas of Delhi. Okla.
Water Treatment Plant also came up during the BJP regime. ”
Professor Mukhi was very upbeat
about the track record of BJP while in power at Delhi. “The entire five year term of BJP was free
from any communal riot. Budget allocations in Delhi swelled from Rs. 980 cores
to Rs. 2700 crores.
Jhuggi dwellers were given one
electric point for just Rs. 15 and two points for Rs. 30. Ration cards were
made available to over 8 lakh Delhi residents. Maternity benefit programmes
were launched along with programmes for distribution of Hearing Aids. Permission
was granted for adding another floor to existing buildings. Subway pedestrian
pathways were created. Parks were set up in large numbers and Delhi roads were
broadened for easier traffic movement,
The number of water tankers was
increased from 325 to 1200 and deep tube wells increased in numbers from 600 to
1630. Electric supply increased from 1600 to 2400 Mega watts. Cables were laid
for supply of electricity to rural areas. Sixty Mobile dispensaries were made
operative to serve the Jhuggi dwellers. Budget allocations for Education were
enhanced to 10 % of the budget. Education in Government schools was made free unto
class XII. Recruitment Board was set up
for Delhi. Plots were allotted to industrial units functioning in residential areas.
Commission for Women was set up along with Committee for visits to religious places.
Pensions of Freedom Fighters were enhanced. ”
“Voters in Delhi have seen
through the hollow promises being made by Congress on Election eve. They are no
longer going to be deceived and are ready to vote for a government under the
leadership of Dr. Harshvardhan. Delhi will see a government inspired by achievements
of Narendra Modi on December 4.” Concluded Professor Jagdish Mukhi .
